How can you tell if the child is having trouble expressing what his knowledge?? For example, when you ask your child a question, he can easily answer but when you ask him to write the answer down, he will exhibit much difficulty, even if he has already learned the concept and should be of writing age. It is frustrations like these that can be the first sign of learning disabilities that parents should look out for.

2. If your child is at the point of learning how to read, and can recite the alphabet without difficulty, but find it extremely challenging to say particular letters when pointed out, you can suspect a learning disability. It is the same case if the child can count from 1 to 100 without trouble, but have difficulty writing these numbers down on paper.

3. Another telltale sign for dyslexia is your child inverting the spelling or words or how the letters are written. For example, a dyslexic child usually jumbles the letters b and d up and makes the error of writing the small b as a d and vice versa. When asked to spell the word "dog", he or she may come up with "God" instead. If mistakes like these have become very frequent, you may want to look into going to a doctor that specializes in these things.
